Two Arms Caches Uncovered in Separate Locations in Cagayan

Two arms caches uncovered in Cagayan were successfully discovered by units of the Philippine National Police (PNP) with the assistance of former rebels who voluntarily disclosed their locations.

On April 25, 2025, an operation was conducted in Sitio Bigoc, Barangay Alucao, Sta. Teresita, Cagayan, where authorities retrieved various explosives, ammunition, grenades, weapon parts, improvised explosive device (IED) components, and other equipment belonging to the Communist Terrorist Group.

The confiscated materials are now under the custody of the Cagayan Provincial Explosive and Canine Unit for proper disposition.

Another arms cache was discovered by authorities on April 26, 2025, in Barangay Carupian, Baggao, Cagayan.

Recovered at the second site were explosives, ammunition, improvised explosive devices, weapon parts, medicines, documents, and other equipment.

PNP Cagayan Director PCOL Mardito Anguluan emphasized that the successful operations highlight the effectiveness of police collaboration with former rebels.
