Estrada Dismisses Rumors of Replacing Escudero as Senate President

Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada has dismissed speculations that he will replace Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero as Senate President.

Estrada clarified that he has no plans to take over the position and expressed satisfaction with Escudero’s leadership.

According to Estrada, he had heard rumors of a Senate leadership change two to three weeks ago but denied being involved in such talks.

He also noted that no colleagues have approached him regarding any potential shift in leadership.

Estrada believes that the majority of senators currently support Escudero’s leadership.

Before Escudero replaced Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri as Senate President, Estrada’s name had also been mentioned in discussions about potential candidates for the role.

However, Estrada said he had no knowledge of where these speculations originated.

Despite the rumors, Estrada assured that Escudero will remain Senate President when the session resumes on November 4, 2024, following the recess on September 28.
