In preparation for the potential impacts of La Niña, member-agencies are now taking steps to mitigate the effects on livelihoods, property, public infrastructure, and other vulnerable sectors.

La Niña is a climate pattern characterized by prolonged periods of rainfall, strong typhoons, monsoon rains, and other abnormal weather conditions.

It is associated with higher-than-normal rainfall levels compared to usual. Additionally, La Niña often brings cooler temperatures and winds.
