Bombo Radyo Philippines, together with the Bombo Radyo Philippines Foundation, Inc. and the Philippine Red Cross, successfully held Dugong Bombo 2025, the country’s largest single-day voluntary bloodletting event.

Despite the devastation caused by powerful typhoons and earthquakes in several regions, this year’s Dugong Bombo surpassed last year’s record.

The event once again highlighted the strength, compassion, and spirit of volunteerism among Filipinos.

A total of 4,657 bags of blood were collected, equivalent to 2,095,650 cc, 2,095.65 liters, 553.61 gallons, or approximately 10 drums of blood that can save lives.

Amid the nation’s recovery from calamities, the annual event carried deeper meaning for communities.

Filipinos from various sectors—including students, workers, uniformed personnel, professionals, and community organizations—donated blood despite the challenges of the season.

Their courage and compassion reflected the enduring bayanihan spirit that continues to define the Filipino identity.

For nearly two decades, Dugong Bombo has served as a vital lifeline for communities across the archipelago.

Each year, thousands of blood units are provided to support patients during emergencies, childbirth, surgeries, cancer treatments, and other critical medical needs.

With the theme “A Little Pain, A Life to Gain,” the program emphasized that while donating blood takes only a few minutes and causes minimal discomfort, it can give another Filipino a chance to live.

Despite advancements in medical technology, human blood remains irreplaceable, making voluntary donors essential partners in saving lives.

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) expressed full support for Dugong Bombo 2025, encouraging the faithful to participate and describing blood donation as an act of faith, charity, and love for others.

At the conclusion of Dugong Bombo 2025, Bombo Radyo Philippines and its partners reaffirmed their commitment to humanitarian service, community strengthening, and nation-building.

The annual initiative remains a testament to the network’s mission of saving Filipino lives through every vital donation.
