The Department of National Defense (DND) has rejected the request from Pastor Apollo Quiboloy’s camp to transfer custody to a military facility instead of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Since Sunday night, Quiboloy, along with Jackielyn Roy, Ingrid Canada, Cresente Canada, and Sylvia Cemanes, has been in the custody of the PNP at Camp Crame.
On Monday, Atty. Israelito Torreon, the legal counsel for Quiboloy, filed a motion requesting the transfer of custody to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
DND spokesperson Arsenio Andolong stated that the AFP facilities are not the appropriate agency for the custody of suspects involved in the criminal case.
Quiboloy and five co-accused are facing child abuse charges in Davao City court, with one of the suspects, Pauline Canada, already in custody under court authority since July.
Additionally, Quiboloy has an outstanding warrant for human trafficking issued by the Pasig City court.
