According to Phivolcs, the quake had a depth of 11 kilometers and was tectonic in origin, caused by the movement of the Earth’s crust.

Authorities warn that further aftershocks are possible in the coming days, which could lead to damage in affected areas.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) also monitored the event, noting the quake’s intensity and confirming its tectonic source. While the initial quake was not expected to cause major destruction, the occurrence of multiple aftershocks raises concerns for potential infrastructure damage.

Residents are urged to stay alert and prepare for possible additional tremors.
