The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) of Cauayan has confirmed its readiness to conduct preemptive evacuation in flood-prone and landslide-risk areas ahead of Typhoon Uwan’s expected landfall.

Evacuation centers have been prepared with food packs, hygiene kits, and medical supplies, supported by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 2.

Mobile command units and rescue teams are on standby to assist in the relocation of residents from high-risk zones, particularly those near riverbanks and low-lying areas.

Atanacio emphasized that the city’s goal is zero casualty, urging residents to cooperate with authorities and heed evacuation advisories.

Typhoon Uwan (international name: Fung-Wong) is forecast to intensify into a super typhoon by Saturday evening, with maximum sustained winds reaching up to 215 kilometers per hour.

The storm is expected to make landfall late Sunday or early Monday over Southern Isabela or Northern Aurora, bringing torrential rains, strong winds, and storm surges.

Local government units have been instructed by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to complete preemptive evacuations by Sunday morning.
