A seafarer died while his wife, a nurse, is being treated after their vehicle fell into a river at the boundary of Barangays Masayo and Arobo in Tobias Fornier, Antique.
The fatality has been identified as Sheridan Sansaet, 40, while his wife, Cookie Sansaet, survived the accident. Both are residents of Barangay Villaflor, Tobias Fornier.
According to Police Staff Sergeant Anthony Pelingon, investigator at Tobias Fornier Municipal Police Station, the couple had just attended an event in San Jose, Antique, and were on their way home.
Pelingon stated that the driver, suspected of falling asleep, misjudged the road, causing the vehicle to overshoot a bridge and fall into the river.
The wife managed to escape the vehicle immediately, but her husband remained trapped inside as the water level was still deep.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
