The Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils in CALABARZON have implemented preemptive and force evacuations as Super Typhoon Pepito approaches.

Reyan Derrick Marquez, Public Information Officer for the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) CALABARZON, stated in an interview with Bombo Radyo Cauayan that they have initiated mandatory evacuations in coastal areas due to the threat of a storm surge.

Currently, 2,167 families, totaling 8,290 individuals, are housed in evacuation centers across the region.

Many evacuees have remained in shelters since Typhoon Kristine, which damaged their homes and caused continuous flooding.

Marquez noted that the number of evacuees is expected to rise as evacuations continue.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) CALABARZON assured that ample food packs are prepared for affected families.

Evacuations are also underway in flood-prone and landslide-prone areas, particularly in Agoncillo, Batangas, where landslides during Typhoon Kristine resulted in numerous casualties.
