Buntun Bridge Reaches Critical Level; OCD Region 2 Warns of Possible Evacuation

The water level at Buntun Bridge has reached a critical point due to continuous rainfall brought by Typhoon Paolo across Region 2.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo Cauayan, Alvin Ayson, spokesperson for the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) Region 2, confirmed that monitoring efforts are ongoing to assess the storm’s impact.

So far, 1,734 individuals from 35 barangays in Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, and Quirino have been affected by the severe weather.

Five of the affected municipalities are in Isabela, specifically Angadanan, Dinapigue, Divilacan, Maconacon, and Palanan.

The Cagayan River’s water level at Buntun Bridge has surged to 9.2 meters above sea level, prompting close observation.

Due to the rising river level, pre-emptive evacuation plans are being prepared for low-lying and flood-prone areas.

Currently, 11 overflow bridges in Isabela remain impassable, including Songsong Bridge, Gucab Overflow Bridge, Nara Bridge, Cabagan-Sta. Maria Overflow Bridge, Maluno Overflow Bridge, Bento Soliven Bridge, Sinaoangan Norte Overflow Bridge, Cansan Bagurati Overflow Bridge, Baculud Overflow Bridge, Cabisera 8 Overflow Bridge, and Alicaocao Overflow Bridge.
