Woman found dead in Hinabangan Samar after residents discovered a lifeless, bloodied body beneath a riprap in a heavily wooded area in Sitio Arizona, Barangay Cansolabao, early morning of May 6.
According to PLt. Crystian Cadiz, Officer-in-Charge of the Hinabangan Municipal Police Station, they received a call from residents who had joined a grand rally in the town and were the first to spot the body, prompting a swift response from police, SOCO, and the Hinabangan MDRRMO.
The victim, wearing a jacket and ring, was found with head injuries and a bloodied body, and had reportedly been missing for several days before being discovered at the remote site.
Initial identification by local authorities named the woman as alias “Jen,” 47 years old, but a relative later confirmed to Bombo Radyo Tacloban through a viral video that the remains belonged to Normala Tali from Marawi.
Family members shared that they lost contact with Normala shortly after she left their hometown, raising concerns about her disappearance.
Authorities are puzzled as to how the victim ended up in Samar, given that she was originally from Mindanao, which is located several islands away.
Police are now investigating all angles to determine who was behind the killing and what the motive might have been.
Though details remain unclear, the victim’s family is appealing for justice in what appears to be a gruesome crime.
As of now, the Hinabangan police continue their investigation to uncover the circumstances behind the brutal slay.
