Filipino athletes competing in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games in France received a warm welcome from Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in the country.

According to Leo Brisenio, Bombo International News Correspondent in France, the tournament highlights each athlete’s dedication to showcasing their strength and abilities despite their disabilities.

While the event may not be as high-profile as the recently concluded 2024 Paris Olympics, Brisenio noted that the organizers in Paris have shown impressive creativity, making the event memorable on the global stage.

This is also the first time Paris is hosting the Paralympic Games, where more than 4,400 athletes will compete in 22 sports over 11 days. Among the country’s representatives are para-swimmer Ernie Gawilan and para-archer Agustina Bantiloc, along with their teammates Jerrold Mangliwan, Cendy Asusano, Angel Mae Otom, and Allain Ganapin.

They are accompanied by coaches Gershon Bautista (taekwondo), Jonathan Josol (track and field), Berson Buen (archery), and Brian Ong (swimming).
