Atty. Israelito Torreon expressed readiness to face the sedition charges filed against him by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).
CIDG Chief PBGen. Nicolas Torre III led the filing of the complaint at the Department of Justice, over a month after the clash between members of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) and the Davao PNP, previously headed by Torre.
One of the bases for the case was the alleged call from KOJC officials and members to oust President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. from office.
In an interview following the filing, Atty. Torreon said he was not surprised by the charges, noting that Gen. Torre had long threatened them, and they had expected a series of cases to be filed.
Torreon also questioned where and when he made statements that could be considered ‘inciting sedition,’ as he was merely defending his client, Apollo Quiboloy.
Gen. Torre emphasized that they would present all the evidence against Torreon and his associates as the case proceeds.
He added that they have gathered substantial evidence to support their case against the group, with a total of 13 individuals charged, including some John and Jane Does, whose identities are still unknown.
