Asia’s Queen of Songs Pilita Corrales Dies at 85

Pilita Corrales, known as Asia’s Queen of Songs, has passed away at the age of 85.

The news was confirmed by her granddaughter, actress Janine Gutierrez, through a post on Instagram.

Gutierrez shared that details regarding the memorial services will be announced in the coming days and requested prayers for her grandmother.

Corrales is survived by her daughter, actress Jackie Lou Blanco, and her son, Ramon “Monching” Christopher Gutierrez.

Renowned for her unique vocal style and signature backbend, Corrales rose to fame with timeless classics such as “Kapantay ay Langit,” “A Million Thanks to You,” and “Dahil Sa’yo.”

Aside from her successful musical career, Corrales was also a staple on Philippine television, where she co-hosted “An Evening with Pilita” and served as a judge on talent shows like “Philippine Idol.”

She also appeared in several Filipino films alongside the late screen legends Fernando Poe Jr. and Dolphy.
