Army Chief Urges Troops to Safeguard Peaceful Elections

Army Chief Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido underscored the vital role of the Armed Forces in ensuring peaceful and credible elections during his “Talk to Troops” at the 9th Infantry “Spear” Division headquarters in Camp Elias Angeles, San Jose, Pili, Camarines Sur on May 7, 2025.

Emphasizing that elections are a measure of the country’s social maturity, Lt. Gen. Galido called on soldiers to work collectively with law enforcement to make the electoral process safe and successful.

He highlighted that credible election results can only be achieved if voters are free from violence and intimidation, placing the responsibility of securing polling areas squarely on the shoulders of both the military and police.

Lt. Gen. Galido also instructed brigade and battalion commanders to stay proactive and maintain strong communication, while affirming that each soldier, regardless of rank, plays a critical role in the upcoming elections.

He reiterated the rule of law as fundamental to democracy, noting that the Army must uphold it to maintain public trust and achieve lasting peace.

Before addressing the troops, the Army Chief awarded streamer honors to 9ID units for outstanding internal security operations and reassured the command of continued support as it transitions toward external defense responsibilities.
