Initial investigations revealed that the Starsky Aviation Fokker 50 aircraft experienced a technical problem just minutes after taking off from Mogadishu International Airport.

According to Somalia’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the pilot requested to return to the airport due to the issue, but the aircraft failed to stop on the runway, overshot the tarmac, and eventually crashed into the shallow waters of the sea.

All passengers were able to safely exit the aircraft after it went down in the Indian Ocean.

Passengers praised the pilot’s swift and calm decision-making, which ensured everyone’s safety.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.
