SEOUL — South Korean President Lee Jae Myung has ordered the deployment of “all available resources” to tackle the widespread damage caused by torrential rains that have left at least four people dead.
Presiding over a disaster management meeting on Friday (July 18), Lee emphasized the urgent need for an aggressive response, saying, “We should deploy sufficient, perhaps even excessive, resources to prevent further damage and accidents.”
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety reported that over 5,000 residents have been displaced and are now in temporary shelters, with one person still missing.
Torrential rain warnings remain in force across much of the country’s western and southern regions.
The Korea Meteorological Administration has urged extreme caution for potential landslides and flash floods through Saturday (July 19).
