BOMBO DAGUPAN – The number of individuals affected by common illnesses is on the rise, with the majority being infectious diseases.

According to Dr. Glenn Joseph Soriano, a U.S. doctor and natural medicine advocate, the causes of these illnesses can be attributed to viruses, bacteria, and fungi, but viral infections are the most prevalent.

These include ailments such as cough, colds, and fever.

Dr. Soriano explained that once you contract a virus like the common cold, you can be susceptible to different strains of the virus even after recovering. Although these viral infections are typically self-limiting—meaning they should resolve within a week—those with comorbidities are at higher risk of complications.

For instance, individuals with diabetes, often referred to as the “mother of all diseases,” are more likely to experience severe complications, which could even lead to death if not promptly addressed.

Dr. Glenn emphasized the importance of considering multiple factors that affect our health, advocating for regular exercise and a balanced diet.
