Two mothers were arrested in Glendale, Arizona after allegedly leaving their four children, including an infant, unattended in a parking lot while they drank inside a bar.
According to reports, around 11:00 p.m., concerned residents noticed two young children wandering around the parking area and alerted the police.
Upon arriving at the scene, police officers discovered another child and a crying infant inside a vehicle.
One of the mothers arrived shortly after and claimed she had only gone to the restroom, but authorities doubted her story as the children had already been reported unattended for over 45 minutes.
The second mother showed up shortly afterward, giving the same excuse.
Eventually, one of the women admitted that both of them had entered the bar to drink, leaving the children unsupervised.
Officers also found marijuana within reach of the children inside the car.
The two mothers now face charges related to child neglect and illegal drug possession.
Authorities have placed the children in government custody to ensure their safety.
