The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has warned that five areas in the country will experience a danger-level heat index on March 7, 2025.

According to PAGASA, the affected areas include Dagupan City in Pangasinan, Iba in Zambales, Ambulong in Tanauan, Batangas, San Jose in Occidental Mindoro, and Cuyo in Palawan.

The heat index measures how hot it feels to the human body based on air temperature and humidity.

A heat index between 42°C and 51°C is classified as a danger level, which can cause heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and heatstroke.

Meanwhile, the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City is expected to reach up to 40°C, while the Science Garden in Quezon City may experience 39°C on Friday.

PAGASA previously explained that extreme heat during this time of the year is typical as the country transitions from the rainy season to the dry season.

Health experts warn that prolonged exposure to extreme heat can lead to dehydration, dizziness, and even life-threatening conditions like heatstroke.

Authorities advise the public to stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and wear protective clothing to prevent heat-related illnesses.
