A 59-year-old man has spent two months living in an underwater capsule to break the Guinness World Record for the “Longest Time Spent Living in an Underwater Fixed Habitat.”

Rudiger Koch, an aerospace engineer, has been residing in the capsule off Puerto Lindo, Panama, in the Caribbean Sea for over 60 days.

The 322-square-foot capsule serves as his home and workplace, equipped with a portable toilet, TV, computer, bed, stationary bike, solar power, satellite internet, and fans.

Koch began his record attempt on September 26 and plans to emerge on January 24, completing 120 days underwater.

The current record of 100 days, set by Joseph Dituri in 2023 in Florida, is the target Koch aims to surpass.
