Initial investigations revealed that the victims were cleaning the Cement Grinding Area using vacuum equipment.

The two entered the bag house dust collector to clean the cement filter.

While working, the filter suddenly collapsed, showering the men with hot cement and trapping them.

Efforts were made to bring them to Cebu Provincial Hospital in Carcar City, but they were declared dead on arrival.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo Cebu, Jonel’s sister, Marivic Lariosa, tearfully recounted her disbelief over the tragic fate of her brother, who had worked there for 13 years.

She also appealed for financial help, especially since the victim’s eldest child had just started college.
