The fingerprints of dismissed Bamban Mayor Alice Guo were among over a million duplicate entries uncovered by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in their database.

According to Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia, the duplicates were identified through the Automated Fingerprint Identification System between February and September of this year.

Earlier, Comelec filed charges against Guo for alleged material misrepresentation, finding her fingerprints matched voting records under the name of a Chinese woman, Guo Hua Ping, in the National Bureau of Investigation database.

Fingerprint duplication is an election offense that could lead to a one to six-year prison term.

Despite this discovery, Garcia stated that Comelec must still determine whether these duplications constitute a criminal case.
