OPM band HEY JUNE! is giving a fresh spin to a beloved Filipino classic with their rendition of “Ai Shite Ruyo,” originally recorded by iconic pop group Smokey Mountain.

The band’s version introduces a modern sound while staying true to the heart of the original song. It follows HEY JUNE!’s cover of Tears for Fears’ “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” and marks the group’s second officially released cover track.

HEY JUNE! adds its own signature style to the classic hit, creating a version that feels both nostalgic and new. The release reflects the band’s passion for celebrating Filipino music and introducing classic songs to a younger audience.

The song also marks a first for the band, as bassist Coey joins Jim and Aci as a featured vocalist on an official release.

Originally released in 1994 as part of Smokey Mountain’s acclaimed album Death Penalty, “Ai Shite Ruyo” remains one of the group’s most memorable songs. More than 30 years later, HEY JUNE!’s rendition serves as a tribute to Smokey Mountain’s influence on OPM while helping the song reach the new generation.

The release is also notable for being the first special collaboration between EMI Records Philippines and Island Records Philippines.
