Vice President Sara Duterte may need a psychological evaluation after making alarming statements in a recent press conference, where she imagined beheading President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and threatened to exhume the remains of former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. to throw them into the West Philippine Sea.

House Assistant Majority Leader and Zambales 1st District Representative Jay Khonghun expressed concern over Duterte’s statements, particularly since she holds a high-ranking position in the country.

Khonghun stated that no sane person would think of or utter such remarks, adding that the level of irrationality in her words is troubling.

Similarly, House Assistant Majority Leader and La Union 1st District Representative Paolo Ortega voiced his concern over the serious implications of Duterte’s statements.

Ortega emphasized that violent and terrifying remarks like these are unacceptable, especially from a sitting Vice President, and raised questions about her mental and emotional well-being.

He encouraged Vice President Duterte to seek a psychological evaluation, citing the alarming nature of her comments.

In the Friday press conference, Duterte mentioned that she had imagined beheading President Marcos, which she said signified the toxicity of their relationship.

She also revealed that she sent a message to Senator Imee Marcos in a group chat, warning that if the attacks against her continued, she would have former President Marcos Sr.’s remains exhumed and thrown into the West Philippine Sea.

Duterte made these statements after the House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability questioned her controversial use of confidential funds under the Office of the Vice President and the Department of Education.

During the hearing, military officials denied receiving any confidential funds from Duterte for the Youth Leadership Summits (YLS), stating that the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and local governments shouldered the expenses for the summit.

According to Commission on Audit records, Duterte submitted certifications from the AFP to justify the P15 million she claimed to have used for informants.

However, AFP officials clarified that the certifications were for the conduct of the YLS, not for confidential informants.

Instead of addressing the issues regarding the use of the confidential fund at the press conference, Duterte launched verbal attacks against President Marcos.
