News Translation in Inverted Pyramid Structure:
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is targeting to resolve all cases involving 117 senatorial aspirants labeled as “nuisance candidates” by November, according to Comelec Chairperson Atty. George Erwin Garcia.

Under the Omnibus Election Code, the Comelec has the authority to reject or cancel the candidacy of an aspirant, either on its own or through a verified petition, to safeguard the integrity and dignity of the elections.

Despite this, these aspirants still have the opportunity to appeal the decision before the Comelec en banc.

Garcia stated that the commission aims to settle all petitions against these candidates within November to finalize the official list of candidates and proceed with ballot printing before the end of December.
