Typhoon Julian has left significant damage to the agricultural sector in the Philippines, with losses now totaling over P36.34 million.

According to the Department of Agriculture (DA), the storm devastated 577 hectares of agricultural land in the Ilocos Region and Cagayan Valley, affecting around 1,000 farmers.

To assist those impacted, the DA has prepared P143.26 million worth of rice, corn seeds, and vegetable seeds for distribution.

The agency is also closely monitoring the prices of agricultural commodities, as the damage may lead to price hikes following the back-to-back typhoons hitting the country.

Meanwhile, parts of the Philippines continue to experience bad weather, as Typhoon Julian re-entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Thursday morning.
