An SWS survey on quality of life found that 32% of adult Filipinos reported an improvement in their living conditions over the past year, while 25% said their situation worsened.
The survey, conducted by Stratbase-Social Weather Stations (SWS) from January 17-20, 2025, recorded a “net gainers” score of +7, derived from the percentage of those who experienced better conditions (gainers) minus those who saw a decline (losers).
Meanwhile, 43% of respondents stated that their quality of life remained unchanged.
The net gainers score of +7 is considered high but is 11 points lower than the pre-pandemic level of +18 in December 2019.
It is also six points lower than the “very high” +13 recorded in December and September 2024, but close to the “high” +5 in March 2024 and December 2023.
SWS noted that net gainers scores were typically negative until 2015 when they turned positive, only to decline again due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its economic impact.
The quality of life survey has been conducted 156 times since it began in April 1983.
The Stratbase-SWS January 2025 Pre-Election Survey was based on face-to-face interviews with 1,800 registered voters.
