Authorities from the Philippine National Police successfully carried out a search operation at the residence of 37-year-old farmer “Alias Niki” in Barangay Bacsil South, Laoag City.
The operation was supported by a search warrant for violations of Republic Act 10591 (Illegal Possession of Firearms) and Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
Although the subject was not present during the search, police confiscated 21 sachets of suspected shabu, a caliber .30 firearm with three bullets, and two 5.56 caliber rounds from the property.
Relatives claimed that unidentified individuals entered the house prior to the formal operation, raising concerns about procedural integrity.
It was revealed that the house had a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera, but footage from the outdoor unit was reportedly lost.
Barangay Councilor Franklin Cabarrubias expressed surprise at the operation, stating that the suspect had shown no signs of illegal activity since his release from prison.
He noted a visible improvement in the suspect’s behavior, describing him as a reformed individual who frequently worked in the fields alongside relatives.
