CAUAYAN CITY – Two female students were injured after being struck by a motorcycle while crossing the pedestrian lane along the national highway in Minante 1, Cauayan City, near a private university.
Eyewitnesses reported that the students, residents of Soliven and San Mariano in Isabela, were crossing the pedestrian lane when they were hit by an NMAX motorcycle driven by Jeffrey Nacar of San Fermin, Cauayan City.
According to one of the responding rescuers, one of the students sustained a fracture in the hip or leg, while the other suffered minor scratches but remains under observation.
The motorcycle rider also sustained injuries, particularly to his arm.
All victims were taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Initial investigations by authorities revealed that while the rider was not under the influence of alcohol, he was reportedly speeding at the time of the accident.
