MANILA, Philippines Vice President Sara Duterte’s legal team has formally filed its comment on the motion for reconsideration (MR) submitted by the House of Representatives before the Supreme Court, which sought to overturn the tribunal’s earlier ruling that declared the impeachment complaint against her “unconstitutional.”

In a message to reporters on Monday, Atty. Michael Poa confirmed that Duterte’s camp submitted their Comment/Opposition to the High Court.

“We confirm that we have formally filed our Comment/Opposition to the Motion for Reconsideration filed by the House of Representatives before the Honorable Supreme Court,” Poa said.

However, Poa emphasized that they will not disclose further details about the document. “In deference to the sub judice rule and out of respect for the judicial process, we will not be granting media interviews or issuing further statements at this time,” he added.

The Supreme Court is expected to deliberate on the impeachment matter following the submissions of both the House and Duterte’s camp.

Meanwhile, the Senate has opted to “archive” the impeachment complaint against the vice president, revising an earlier proposal from Sen. Rodante Marcoleta to dismiss the case outright after the High Court’s decision.
