Vice President Sara Duterte boldly stated that she will “never again” run in tandem with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. This declaration came after she was asked if there was any chance they would team up again in future elections.

VP Duterte did not explain why she made the remark about no longer partnering with President Marcos. It will be recalled that the two joined forces during the 2022 Presidential elections under the “Unity Team” banner.

In the first two years of their administration, the relationship between the two appeared to be amicable. However, as they entered their third year, their bond began to show signs of strain. This eventually led to VP Duterte’s resignation as the Secretary of Education in June.

The Vice President also revealed that she and President Marcos are not friends, adding that they only met during the campaign and she did not really know him personally. She further mentioned that her real friend is Senator Imee Marcos.

According to VP Duterte, the last time she spoke with President Marcos was when she went to Malacañang to hand in her resignation as DepEd Secretary.
