MANILA — Vice President Sara Duterte stated on Wednesday that she had no regrets about disclosing an alleged assassination plot against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., explaining that it was important for her political opponents to know that she “would not die in vain.”
Earlier, Duterte had claimed she arranged for the killings of Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Marcos, and Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez if the alleged plot against her had succeeded.
“No… Buti na yung alam nila na kapag namatay ako, I will not die in vain,” Duterte told reporters when asked if she regretted her statements, which prompted the Department of Justice (DOJ) and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to launch investigations.

“I’m at peace with whatever happens to me,” she added. “I have already accepted that whatever happens to me, that is God’s purpose for my life.”

Duterte acknowledged that she expected political attacks as the 2028 presidential elections approach but was caught off guard by what she described as an attempt to use the “entire government” against her.
“I know from the start. It doesn’t bother me because anyone can run for president,” she said. “What I didn’t expect was that they would use the entire government to destroy a person.”
The Vice President also confirmed that she would announce her decision regarding a presidential bid by the end of 2026.
