Two senior citizens lost their lives after their e-trike was swept away by floodwaters at a spillway in Barangay Biong, Cabusao, Camarines Sur.

The victims, identified as Jessie Delos Santos and Jun Grimploma, were found lifeless early morning on December 2, 2024.

According to Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO) head Jose Reyes III, Delos Santos was discovered at 4:00 AM, while Grimploma was found at 7:15 AM.

The incident occurred amid heavy rains caused by the shear line and the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) that triggered widespread flooding in the province.

The victims were returning home from a church service in Legazpi City when their e-trike, carrying four senior citizens, was caught in the strong floodwaters.

Two other passengers were rescued immediately, but the strong current prevented the recovery of Delos Santos and Grimploma in time.

Reyes advised residents, especially in flood-prone and low-lying areas, to heed pre-emptive evacuation orders and avoid crossing flooded areas during heavy rains.
