A motorcycle crash in Bacolod City left two riders dead and a passenger critically injured after a head-on crash along Granada-Alangilan Road, Hacienda Carmen, Barangay Granada, at 7:15 p.m.
According to Bacolod Traffic Enforcement Unit Head Police Lt. Col. Ramil Sarona, the victims were identified as 28-year-old Helbert Lasquite, a resident of Purok A, Bantug, Barangay Alangilan, who was riding a red Rusi motorcycle, and an unidentified driver of a black Rusi motorcycle.
The second rider and his passenger were both residents of Himamaylan City but worked at a chicken farm in Barangay Granada.
Initial police investigations revealed that the black Rusi motorcycle, traveling from Alangilan to Granada, veered into the opposite lane and collided head-on with the red Rusi motorcycle, which was traveling from Granada to Alangilan.
Authorities believe that both motorcycles were speeding at the time of the crash, causing severe damage to the vehicles and throwing the victims onto the road.
All three victims sustained serious head and body injuries and were rushed to the regional hospital. However, both drivers were pronounced dead, while the passenger remains in critical condition.
Investigators noted that none of the victims were wearing helmets at the time of the accident.
Authorities are still determining why the black Rusi motorcycle was on the wrong lane and whether alcohol was a factor in the crash.
