Two 23-year-old Boholanos secured the 8th and 9th spots in the April 2025 Civil Engineering Licensure Examination, bringing pride to their hometown and university.
Irah Angellie Doroy placed 8th with a 91.55% rating, while Kevin Jeade Campeceño ranked 9th with a 91.30% score; both graduated from Bohol Island State University Main Campus.
In an exclusive interview with Star FM Cebu, Doroy and Campeceño opened up about their contrasting academic journeys and how they turned their personal experiences into fuel to break into the Top 10.
Doroy, an achiever since her early school days, admitted that the civil engineering course was extremely challenging, prompting her to dedicate herself to intensive study and academic excellence.
On the other hand, Campeceño confessed that he was once an underperforming student who hit rock bottom with a 3.0 grade, a wake-up call that inspired him to change his mindset and prioritize his education.
Despite moments of self-doubt, both topnotchers emphasized the importance of perseverance, staying focused on their goals, and believing in themselves throughout the rigorous preparation process.
They credited their success to a strong prayer life, faith in God, consistent review of lessons and formulas, and ensuring proper rest for mental and physical well-being.
As advice to aspiring civil engineers, both Doroy and Campeceño urged students not to fear asking questions, stressing that learning—not perfection—is the key to achieving one’s dream.
