Tricycle Driver Fatally Shot in Koronadal City; Suspect Still Unknown

KORONADAL CITY – Authorities are continuing their investigation into the fatal shooting of a tricycle driver in Purok Sentro, Brgy. San Jose, Koronadal City, which occurred around 8 PM last night.

The victim has been identified by Barangay Captain Danilo Simtim of Brgy. San Jose as Ace Mecenas, a 29-year-old married tricycle driver and a resident of Brgy. Palavilla, Lutayan, Sultan Kudarat.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo Koronadal, Captain Simtim stated that he was informed of the shooting incident involving Mecenas.

Witnesses, who were first to respond to the scene, reported that the suspect, riding a motorcycle, shot Mecenas and immediately fled after committing the crime.

The victim sustained gunshot wounds to his back and was rushed to the hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Authorities have yet to determine the motive behind the crime and the identity of the perpetrator.

It was learned that Mecenas was on his way home with his wife when the shooting occurred.

Captain Simtim added that the victim was only renting the tricycle he was driving.
