The Court of Appeals of Timor-Leste has rejected former Philippine Congressman Arnolfo Teves Jr.’s motion for reconsideration to reverse its decision allowing his extradition.

This was confirmed by the Philippine Department of Justice (DOJ), based on information from Timor-Leste’s Prosecutor General.

In June, the court approved the Philippines’ request to extradite Teves, who was arrested in Dili in March following an Interpol red notice.

Teves fled the Philippines after being implicated in the killing of Governor Roel Degamo.

Following this, an Interpol red notice was issued, leading to his arrest in Timor-Leste in March 2024.

Philippine authorities sought his extradition to face charges of murder and illegal possession of firearms.
