Three people sustained injuries after a four-vehicle collision along the National Highway in Barangay Upi, Gamu, Isabela resulted in a sedan overturning.
The overturned sedan was driven by 30-year-old Shirley Emily Reyes, a resident of Barangay Upi, Gamu, Isabela.
The Honda City hatchback involved in the crash was driven by 23-year-old Samuel Butac from Barangay San Miguel, Burgos, Isabela.
Also involved in the collision was a motorcycle operated by a 15-year-old male student from Barangay Linglingay, Gamu, Isabela, with a 14-year-old backrider from Barangay Buenavista, Gamu, both of whom are students.
A delivery container van driven by 34-year-old Junel Butac, a resident of Barangay Casalatan, Cauayan City, was likewise caught in the incident.
According to the investigation by Gamu Police Station and CCTV footage from a local establishment, both the hatchback and the sedan were traveling southbound along the highway, while the motorcycle and container van were heading northbound.
The crash occurred when the hatchback rear-ended the sedan, causing the latter to lose control, veer into the opposite lane, and crash into the oncoming motorcycle and delivery van before eventually overturning.
The sedan driver and the motorcycle rider sustained bodily injuries and were rushed to GFNDY Memorial Hospital in the City of Ilagan.
Meanwhile, the motorcycle’s backrider was brought to Providers Hospital in Naguilian, Isabela for medical treatment.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident and are assessing the extent of the damage to the vehicles, which are currently under the custody of the Gamu Police Station.
