Three young girls drowned after the motorcycle they were riding, driven by their stepfather, was swept away by floodwaters at a submerged spillway in Bukidnon.
Authorities confirmed the tragedy occurred at the Bobonawan River in Barangay Capihan, Libona town.
The victims, identified as sisters aged 6, 8, and 12, were riding with their mother and stepfather when the incident happened.
Both parents survived the ordeal.
According to witnesses, the motorcycle lost its brakes, causing it to plunge into the swollen spillway.
The mother and stepfather managed to swim to safety, but the strong current carried the children away.
The 12-year-old was recovered first and rushed to a hospital, but she was declared dead on arrival.
The bodies of the two younger siblings were found the following day, Monday.
