The suspect accused of killing two police officers was fatally shot after allegedly resisting authorities attempting to serve his arrest warrant in Barangay Bacagan, Baggao, Cagayan.
The suspect, identified as alias Xander, was wanted for violating Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. He was an adult resident of Bocaue, Bulacan.
According to PMAJ Sharon Mallillin, information officer of Police Regional Office 2, police were forced to return fire after the suspect immediately drew his gun and fired at operatives, leading to his death.
Authorities confirmed Xander’s involvement in the fatal shooting of two Bulacan police officers during a gun buy-bust operation on March 8 this year. CCTV footage linked him to the crime.
Following the shooting, Xander reportedly took a Glock 9mm pistol from one of the slain officers, which he later used in the encounter.
