Sine Negrense 2024 Winners: “ANINAW” and “TINIGOM” Shine Bright

Bacolod City, Philippines – The Sine Negrense Film Festival 2024 concluded with a spectacular Awards Night on December 6 at Ayala Malls Capitol Central, honoring the best of Negros Island cinema.

In the Open Category, “ANINAW” emerged as the top winner, taking home awards for Best Film, Best Director (Charlene Mae Tupas), Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Poster, and Best Actor.

“THELM ME WHY” received the Jury’s Choice for Best Film, alongside accolades for Best Production Design, Best Supporting Actress (Mary June Ambino), and Best Actress (Mary Jane Quilisadio).

Audience-favorite “TAGANA” won the Audience Choice Award, Best Screenplay, and Best Original Song for “Dili na ta pwede.”

In the Inter-School Category, “TINIGOM” swept major awards, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, the Audience Impact Award for Most Engaging Trailer, and Best Original Song for “Padayon lang ta.”

The Jury’s Choice for Best Film, “HUNI SANG KAHILUM”, also stood out with Mary June Ambino winning Best Actress.

This year’s festival spotlighted inclusivity, featuring 16 female directors in its Main and Exhibition Sections, a historic achievement for Sine Negrense.

A total of 24 films—12 each in the Open and Inter-School Categories—were evaluated by esteemed judges, including Tito Valiente, Jonathan Jurilla, and Julius Dela Peña for the Open Category, and Jag Garcia, Poli Gonzales, and Myish Endonila for the Inter-School Category.

The festival was supported by the Film Development Council of the Philippines, National Commission for Culture and the Arts, Provincial Government of Negros Occidental, and others.

Key sponsors like Ayala Malls Capitol Central and Negros Season of Culture reinforced its commitment to regional cinema.
