Senate President Chiz Escudero clarified that Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa’s committee will not head the Senate investigation into the Duterte administration’s war on drugs if the probe pushes through.

In an interview, Escudero mentioned that he had spoken with Sen. Dela Rosa and emphasized that it would be more appropriate for another committee to handle any investigation involving him or Sen. Bong Go to avoid allegations of bias or lack of impartiality.

Escudero said that Sen. Dela Rosa accepted this suggestion, and it will be formalized in the coming days.

Currently, there is a possibility that the Committee of the Whole will lead the investigation, but Escudero is also considering assigning the probe to another committee.

Escudero is set to consult other Senate members regarding the matter.

“We will address this in the coming days and consult other members, but I’ve already spoken to Sen. Bato. I told him that any investigation involving him or Sen. Go would be better if led by another committee to avoid any allegations of bias or unfairness. That’s what we will tackle in the coming days,” Escudero stated.
