Senator Mark Villar, former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary, and former Senator Grace Poe have strongly denied allegations linking them to kickbacks from flood control projects.
The accusations were made by former DPWH Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo in his second affidavit, where he claimed Villar allegedly received a percentage from approved projects such as EDSA and other major roads.
Bernardo also alleged that Poe received a 20 percent commission from the projects.
In response, Villar dismissed the claims as a “big lie” and urged the public to avoid making hasty judgments based on what he described as a possibly “manufactured” or “tailored” affidavit.
Poe, meanwhile, expressed sadness over the allegations but firmly assured that she has never been involved in any form of corruption.
She added that she hopes the Department of Justice will carefully review the accusations against her.
