Sen. Lito Lapid thanks Lakas-CMD for its full support to the senatorial candidates of Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas, including his own reelection campaign.
Senator Lapid expressed his gratitude following a meeting on Tuesday with fellow Alyansa members and the leadership of Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD), headed by House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
“Lubos akong nagpapasalamat sa Lakas-CMD sa tulong na ibinibigay nila sa amin at makakaasa sila na kasama nila kami para patuloy na maisulong ang mga serbisyo, programa at mga panukala para sa kapakanan ng ating bansa” (I deeply thank Lakas-CMD for the support they are giving us, and they can count on us to continue advancing services, programs, and proposals for the good of the nation), Lapid said.
He also honored the contributions of past Lakas-CMD leaders such as former President Fidel V. Ramos and former House Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr., noting their pivotal support to his home province during the aftermath of the Mount Pinatubo eruption.
“Hindi ko makakalimutan ang kanilang mabilis na pagtulong sa amin sa Pampanga matapos pumutok ang Mount Pinatubo at masalanta kami ng lahar” (I will never forget their swift assistance to us in Pampanga after Mount Pinatubo erupted and we were devastated by lahar), Lapid said in his speech.
The meeting was also attended by lawmakers, governors, mayors, and other Lakas-CMD members, during which Speaker Romualdez urged the party to rally behind the Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial lineup.
Lapid, a former governor of Pampanga seeking a fourth term in the Senate, remains one of the frontrunners in recent surveys, placing third in the latest Social Weather Stations poll.
