The Supreme Court has ordered the House Quad Committee to submit a comment on former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque’s petition seeking to bar the committee from summoning him to future hearings.
The committee has been given 10 days from the receipt of the court’s resolution to respond.
The court’s decision comes after it denied Roque’s request for a writ of amparo, which would have provided him special protection from the House’s proceedings.
The Supreme Court ruled that the writ of amparo is not applicable to Roque’s case, as it is limited to situations involving extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, and threats to life.
Roque is currently facing a detention order from the House committee after being cited in contempt for refusing to submit documents related to his sudden wealth increase, allegedly linked to illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) activities.
