Rep Sandro Marcos leads VP Sara Duterte impeachment complaint alongside more than 200 lawmakers, marking a historic move in Philippine politics.
A reliable source confirmed the development after House Secretary General Reginald Velasco announced that a fourth impeachment complaint had been filed, securing enough support to advance.
If the impeachment proceeds, Vice President Sara Duterte will be the first vice president in Philippine history to face removal from office.
Velasco previously stated that the complaint had gained sufficient backing to move forward, surpassing the required one-third vote threshold for impeachment.
As of now, 206 lawmakers have voted in favor of impeaching VP Duterte.
Rep. Marcos’ involvement follows his outrage over VP Duterte’s controversial statement about exhuming his grandfather’s remains and dumping them in the West Philippine Sea.
