He mentioned during a media forum that while he is no longer keen on a Senate run, he has heard Davaoeños urging him to run for mayor, which he approved.

When asked about the future of his son, current Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte, the former president said his son may run for vice mayor instead.

Previously, Senator Robinhood Padilla disclosed that Duterte is being urged to run for senator or for one of his children to do so in the 2025 midterm elections.

Padilla, who is the current president of the PDP-Laban (Duterte wing), stated they are awaiting Duterte’s final decision before the filing deadline.
