PNP Chief Rommel Francisco Marbil visited Lupi, Camarines Sur, to personally assess the heavy traffic situation along Andaya Highway.
PCPT. Jonel San Buenaventura, Acting Chief of Police, told Bombo Radyo Naga that the PNP Chief’s main objective was to test the operational readiness of PNP Lupi in managing the traffic situation on Andaya Highway.
The visit also aimed to monitor how police officers are assisting motorists during heavy traffic.
Buenaventura added that the PNP Chief’s visit was unexpected, with the announcement coming only an hour before his arrival, but all police officers were prepared for the sudden situation.
The police chief expressed satisfaction with the police’s response to the traffic situation.
The official suggested adding more signages before control points, such as “1 km Construction Ahead.”
Compared to previous days, traffic in Lupi has slightly improved due to the DPWH rehabilitation project, which has resulted in some development, turning a previously one-way lane into a two-way street.
While the volume of vehicles remains high, it is being managed efficiently.
After visiting Lupi, Marbil also went to the Sagrada Familia church, a school, and then directly boarded a plane to Camp O La Legaspi.
This marks PNP Chief Marbil’s first visit to Lupi.
Officials are reminding travelers and commuters to be responsible, understanding, and patient with the traffic situation, assuring them of the DPWH’s diligent work on the road rehabilitation.
