Philippine Army Shooters Dominate 2024 IPSC Australasia Championship

The marksmanship capabilities and warfighting readiness of Philippine Army personnel and reservists were showcased as they won gold medals at the 2024 International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) Australasia Handgun/PCC Championship held in Pecatu Bali, Indonesia, on September 1, 2024.

The Team Classic Division Championship was secured by Maj. Lenard Lopez, who won the Gold Medal and added to his achievements with an Overall 3rd Place Bronze Medal.

Team Philippines claimed the overall championship in the Classic Category, underscoring their excellence in the competition.

Meanwhile, TSg Willard Carrera clinched the Team Production Division Championship, earning a Gold Medal and finishing 3rd overall with a Bronze Medal.

SSg Jerome Morales (RES) distinguished himself as the Production Optics Senior Champion, securing a Gold Medal and contributing to the Production Optics Team Championship, which also won Gold. He further showcased his skills by winning the Production Optics Senior Shoot-Off Champion title.

The Philippine Army also recognized the participation of Ltc Mark Anthony Lasam PA, Ltc Hans Oliver Bearneza PA, Maj Allan Guibone PA, and reservist Edrick Chan.

The Australasia Handgun Championship, an IPSC level 4 event, is hosted every three years in Australasia. The IPSC is the world’s largest shooting sport association and the oldest within practical shooting. This year’s event took place in Bali, Indonesia, from August 20 to September 1, 2024.

The Philippine Army’s participation and success in this international competition highlight its commitment to enhancing warfighting capabilities and readiness through advanced marksmanship training. The Army continues to focus on developing its personnel’s skills, ensuring they are well-prepared for the challenges of modern warfare.
